MARY MASON JONES HOUSE
Between 57th and 58th Streets on the east side of Fifth Avenue
was “Marble Row” a rich man’s housing project planned by
Mary Mason Jones. Mrs. Jones occupied the corner house at
57th Street. By the ‘90s the commercial possibilities of the row
had become irresistible, and the corner pavilion at 58th Street
was made into a bank. The handsome row vanished altogether
in 1929.
